Seek Peace

Seek Peace

Proverbs 3:30
Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

Thought:
The wise man actively seeks peace by understanding that arguing only produces sorrow of heart.

Today’s world and society love discord, arguing, and division. This should not come as a surprise to the believer since the world in its sin acts as the Enemy. It is Satan’s desire that all of us be in constant division.

But the command of Jesus Christ is different. He challenged us as disciples to love one another, and he not only commanded us to do it, but he demonstrated it by giving his life and producing perfect unity between God and His creatures.

The apostle Paul’s mandate is that we seek peace with all men. Dear friend, it is true that sometimes we will have to stand for the truth and defend something that God has called us to believe and practice, but there are times when what we do is motivated by our personal ego.

The reality is that sometimes we fight for a cause that will not change anything in our life but will only produce enmity with someone we should love. Have you ever thought that most of the time our biggest strifes are with the people we love the most? The husband fights with the wife, the son with the father, the boss with the employee and vice versa.

Dear friend, this must not be so. The wise man actively seeks peace by understanding that arguing only produces sorrow of heart. Is there someone you should ask for forgiveness today and seek to bring about peace in that relationship? May we actively seek peace today.
