Today’s Verse

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Proverbs 18:9

Wednesday, November 16

I know many people spend hours and hours on a business plan but they have not ever spent ten minutes on a life plan. Your life is far more important than your business. Why would you spend hours and hours on a business plan and not even an hour a day on your life plan? If the future is where you are going to live, you need to do a little planning.

Even worse, some of you have written out wills and made trusts. I have a will. They say, “This is where I want my assets to be used after I die.”  You ought to do that. Obviously.

But have you ever thought to plan where you want your assets used while you’re alive? Have you ever made a plan for giving it now? Some of you are better prepared for death than you are for life. “When I die, here’s where all my money’s supposed to go.” But you don’t have a budget right now. You are better planned for death than you are for life.

I have had people tell me that when they die, they have put TBC in their will, and there will be money going to go to the church. That is great. I think you ought to put TBC in your will, but as an ole preacher in the South said, “Do your givin’ while you’re livin’, then you’ll be knowin’ where it’s goin’.”

Sure, you ought to put the church and ministries in your will. That is a great idea. But if you’re going to give it away – be generous – why don’t you do it while you’re alive?

Weekly Memory Verse

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Psalm 100:3

"Thanksgiving reminds us that no matter what befalls us in life, we can take the charred remnants and we can reconstruct a life unimaginably richer than that from which the shards and pieces fell."
