Today’s Verse

And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

I Corinthians 15:8

Sunday, October 9

In today’s verse, the Apostle Paul describes himself as “one born out of due time.” I have often felt that way. As I began studying for the ministry, I wished I had been alive during the age of the apostles. At times, I confess I still do!

I wish I could have seen Jesus walk on the water, feed over 5,000 with a sack lunch, stop a funeral procession and give new life to a grieving widow’s son and walk forth victoriously from the grave! I imagine you have sometimes wished you could live at a different time.

In these last few years, I have come to realize that we live in one of the most exciting times of all. The 21st century is a time of incredible change and challenges. What a time to serve God!

We live in an INFORMATION AGE in which I can push a few buttons on a phone or iPad and communicate with people around the world. Every day, with the touch of a keystroke, I send and receive electronic mail through my computer to other pastors and missionaries all over the world. Through the Internet, I can find information on literally any subject that you could name.

We live in an age of SOCIAL REFORMATION. Who would have thought only a few years ago that we would be planting churches in Russia? Who would have thought that a Russian pastor would preach in America? By the way, Missionary Adam will be with us soon at TBC.

Although it may have been exciting to live on the earth 2,000 years ago, the truth is we live in the greatest age ever. What are we doing with this opportunity?

Weekly Memory Verse

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
