Today’s verse simply states that due to the lack of integrity found in Sapphira that she also died, in the church! Yesterday we examined five consequences of a lack of integrity. Today, we continue with this same theme…
6. A lack of integrity is passed on to your CHILDREN. Our kids learn not so much by what we do as by what we say.
George Munzing tells of a time that he went to counsel a family about their son’s drug use. The father was distraught as he described the impact of drugs upon his relationship with his son. He said, “The thing that bothers me most about him being into drugs is the fact that drugs have made him a liar.”
Moments later the phone rang and his wife went to answer. She came back into the room with the message that the call was for the father. He told her, “Tell him I am not at home.” Drugs had not made the boy a liar; the father had.
7. A lack of integrity indicates unchecked CARELESSNESS. Why do we lie, cheat and steal? Because we are basically selfish. We want what we want regardless of the cost to others.
8. A lack of integrity invites CASUALTIES. Ananias and Sapphira died as a result of their selfish deceptions. You may not die physically but a lack of integrity can bring the death of relationships, marriages, business, trust, etc… May each one of us genuinely consider the consequences when we fail to act with integrity!
