We should spend time with God every day, but there is something special about meeting God with other believers. This is what Jesus spoke of in today’s verse. We need to meet with God BOTH privately and publicly.
God’s power through His church is greater than the sum of His power in our lives individually. There is great power when I meet with God. There is great power when you experience God. However, the greatest power is when you and I experience God’s presence together!
We know we ought to experience the presence and power of God in church but many times, we do not. Quite honestly, many times I do not. My mind is on my message, the attendance, offering, visitors, etc…
How can we consistently experience God in our church? Let’s examine six steps we can follow that will ensure we experience God’s presence when we come to church.
Step #1 – I must prepare my heart
In Acts 3 there is a remarkable scene in which the apostles, Peter and John were in the temple in Jerusalem, when a beggar, lame in both legs, asked “alms” from them. Peter said to him, “Look on us.” The beggar thought he would receive a gift, but Peter said in verse 6, “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have, give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
Peter’s heart was prepared and available to be shared with this beggar.
