Today’s Verse

Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

Luke 14:12

Sunday, October 16

Yesterday, we shared the first truth regarding a Christian being sensitive to another Christian. We noted that we should know there are many needy brothers.

2. Know that there is a difference between what we know and what we do. A great many people know a lot about God and the Bible.

However, right knowledge does not necessarily mean right actions. My computer contains several versions of the Bible, including Hebrew and Greek, yet my computer is neither spiritual nor a Christian.

We must not simply possess an accurate theology; we must also allow an accurate theology to possess us! Our faith must have feet!

3. Know that there is a difference between what we say and what we do. This is called “hypocrisy.” It means being two-faced. God does not bless us for what we say, but for what we do. Are you following through?

Allow me to quickly review… our church must be a sensitive church. We are sensitive to God’s leading by the Holy Spirit and we must be sensitive to our needy brothers and sisters in Christ. However, there is one more area that we must demonstrate and practice with great sensitivity. We must be sensitive to this needy world.

If you have noticed over the past few days, all of our quotes have been about our command to tell others about Christ. We cannot be ashamed!

Weekly Memory Verse

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:27

"People talk of the sacrifice I have made in spending so much of my life in Africa. It is emphatically no sacrifice. Say rather it is a privilege."
