We live in a time of GLOBAL EVANGELISM. This explains today’s verse and the reason for this week’s memory verse.
Today, we are literally seeing that promise fulfilled. The gospel is going out to more people in more places than ever before. Technology, falling political barriers and economic necessity are all combining to create incredible opportunities for the final fulfillment of the Great Commission! What a time to be a Christian!
Lest we paint a rosy picture, we must also remember we live in a broken world. Just glancing at the headlines of any newspaper reminds us that our world is hurting. The bleak pictures of the war in Ukraine, unrest in the Middle East, our compromised border, Africa, the streets of our own country, the growing antagonism between Taiwan and China, and the widespread famines bring us back to reality.
Disease, drugs, alcohol, violence, poverty, godlessness and a pervading sense of hopelessness fill the lives of people all around us, even some of the people reading this devotion this morning.
Yes, we live in a truly marvelous time. And yes, the needs are great. Almost an oxymoron. However, both truths plainly declare that we need to be sensitive Christians.
Our church must be full of Christians who are willing to take advantage of our assets and make an eternal difference in the lives of others. Are you sensitive to the needs of others and how you can help share the gospel message?
