Today’s Verse

For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 3:20

Wednesday, November 30

The church cannot be mistaken for some extracurricular place where we gather as a social club or sporting event. Jesus Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. We need to feel honored, humbled, and privileged that we can be a part of HIS church.

The church belongs to the age of grace. We are living today in the dispensation of grace. The church is an unknown mystery in the Old Testament. This would have been radically rejected by the Jewish mind. The church could not have even been conceived apart from the coming Messiah.

The church is unknown in the Old Testament but it is revealed in the New Testament. The church is heavenward bound. The Bible tells us that the church is to be caught up in the air while the kingdom-to-come will settle here on this Earth. The kingdom (during the 1,000-year millennial reign of Christ) will not emerge during the church age as the postmillennialist would say.

The kingdom will not come into play during this period of time in which we live or this would not be a called out assembly. We believe that we live in a very distinguishable age called the church age. We could say most accurately that the church belongs to Christ and is during a peculiar time period referred to as the Age of Grace.

If He is the head of the church and He is; then it behooves us to have the mind of Christ. Based on the last many days of writing, do you look to Jesus?
