Anyone who has been saved any length of time understands and acknowledges that Jesus Christ is the owner of his life. There must come a place and time where you view Him not only as your Savior but as your Master or owner.
If you have been saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, He owns you. You could have literally put a placard over you on the day of your salvation that read, UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. You passed from death unto life. You passed from the grip of the evil one to the loving and free hand of God the Father.
If we are saved today, then we can say, “Christ owns me.” A church must corporately be a people who are owned by Jesus Christ. This is a doctrine that is paramount to the church or ecclesiology, which means study or doctrine of the church. The church is the body of Christ. The church is His, and He is to receive the glory in the church. Few churches truly accomplish this to the degree that we should. However, this should be the goal and desire of every godly church.
Simply written, Christ is our head and our king. Over the years I might have done something here at TBC that you might have done differently. And you might say, don’t forget and remember that this is Christ’s church. May I say very boldly and definitively; we have never forgotten whose church to whom we belong.
We acknowledge humbly that this is the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. This church belongs to Christ whether you are a part of it or not. This is still Christ’s church whether I am the pastor of this church or not. Let’s study this a little more in detail.
