Today’s Verse

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

Tuesday, November 22

This is Thanksgiving week and perhaps, your box has been smashed. Order seems to have died. You don’t even recognize this world. You wish we could go back to a different time. We, collectively, as a church, must line up our priorities and lighten our attitude if we have any chance of surviving this wicked world.

This world is out to devour us. The Bible says this is the mission of Satan! Destroy! Satan has been phenomenally successful in the last 12 months. I read an article back in October when writing the devotions for November that there are over 100 known Baptist churches who are without a pastor today.

Now is not the time to quit. We are going to do character studies of men and women who had their box smashed, gutted, or destroyed. Some quit; others were used mightily by God.

We need antidotes to those unclear values, unrealistic expectations and unsustained energies that beset us and prevent us from being used by God. Today, I introduce to you…

ANTIDOTE #3: LOOK UP TO GOD

The only way you are going to get the important things done in life is if you ask Jesus Christ for help. Jesus is our advocate; He is our intercessor; He is our High Priest; therefore, He greatly desires that we first look to Him for help. Are you?

Weekly Memory Verse

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Psalm 100:4

"In November, people are good to each other. They carry pies to each other’s homes and talk by crackling wood stoves, sipping mellow cider. They travel very far on a special November day just to share a meal with one another and to give thanks for their many blessings."
