Today’s Verse

Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

Ecclesiastes 8:6

Do not get involved with trivial things that really do not matter. Learn the difference between the urgent and the important. Not everything that is urgent in your life (“I’ve got to do this now!”) is necessarily important (“This is the important thing to do.”) The urgent and the important are often two very different things. Just because it has to be done now does not mean it is the most important thing.

Most of you are trying to do the right thing. I know you are trying to live for God, you are trying to grow closer to Christ, you are trying to be what God wants you to be, but you still just do not get it all done.

One of the reasons may be that you may be doing the right thing but you may be doing it in the wrong way. You may be doing the right thing but not in the right way and so, you are wasting time.

What is the solution to all this? Line up your priorities. Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”

Some people think they should not make any plans. “Whatever God wants, that happens… Whatever will be, will be…” That is not the Bible – that’s Doris Day! And she wasn’t a very good theologian. Some people think it is unspiritual to plan – just go with the flow where the Spirit leads.

God plans. He planned the Earth and what He would do on each day. If you want to be godly, Christlike, you have to learn to plan. God gave you the ability to plan.

Weekly Memory Verse

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Psalm 100:3

"Thanksgiving is a joyous invitation to shower the world with love and gratitude."
