Today’s Verse

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Joy Killer #2: I have been attacked by The Enemy.

We don’t call Satan “the enemy” for nothing. He is our enemy. Memorize this week’s memory verse to be reminded of the ever-present plan of The Enemy. He wants to eat you up! He wants to rob you of joy and “devour” your spiritual growth. He wants to sideline you and make you ineffective. He wants to destroy your marriage, steal your children and wreck your life.

Again, Job knew that attack. God allowed Satan to tempt Job. Job suffered and his joy lapsed. Yet in the end God gave him victory. Satan is ultimately defeated. The war is won. However, he will try to defeat you in the battle.

This is why God gives us a precious promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13. If you are under satanic attack, turn to the Lord. Look for his “way of escape.” Immerse yourself in the Word. Get on your knees and into prayer. Seek support from other believers.

You do not have to be discouraged, defeated, devoured or destroyed by The Enemy. He can try; but he does not have to be successful. You determine whether The Enemy will be put down or allowed entrance into your life. Where you go? What music you listen to? Who you allow to whisper into your ear? What you read? All of these guide your mind and influence your emotions which ultimately tip-the-scales in the direction to live with either a confident joy or a defeated soured taste for our Lord!

Weekly Memory Verse

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
