I continue to rejoice with the realization that in heaven are unspeakable treasures! What a fascinating truth that comes from reason #5.
Reason #5 to Rejoice: I rejoice because of the comfort of my Bible.
The Scripture gives us such joy! That’s why we must be disciplined in the Word. As we study the Word we are elevated in our thinking from this earthly, fleshly plain and learn to see the world for what it really is. We find joy in the precious promises of the Lord.
Listen to the Psalmist in Psalm 119:14. “I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, As much as in all riches.” “Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart” (verse 111).
What imagery we see in Psalm 119:162, “I rejoice at thy word As one that findeth great spoil or great treasure.” Imagine discovering a gold mine. That’s what the Scripture is, spiritual gold!
Romans 15:4 says of the Bible, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” I love that phrase “comfort of the Scriptures.” The Word gives us joy.
Thank you for taking the time to read these daily devotionals! My prayer is that God will be glorified and each one of us more sanctified.
