Yesterday we examined two thoughts from today’s verses in that we are to “consider” and “provoke.” Consider the next two thoughts from these verses…
Third, we are not to be “forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.” We are not to just blow off public worship, Bible studies, Growth Groups, discipleship and fellowship times. We should not want to be like “some” in that day who were negative examples. Rather, we are to be present and to be “exhorting one another.”
Fourth, we are to realize that the necessity of the church grows greater as the world grows darker and “the Day,” the day of God’s judgment draws nearer. Therefore, we are to “exhort” our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Have you been following the news? If you are not a believer, the outlook on the current state of affairs is dark and bleak. As a believer, we know that the Bible states in the latter days everything is going to get worse. We are witnessing this degradation at an alarming rate.
So, out of just two verses we read four key instructions for all of us. We are to consider, provoke, forsake not, and exhort! Okay then, attendance should be a given. Attendance is the bare minimum sign of love for the church.
We have so much work to do. Are you actively participating in your local church by practicing these four key instructions?
