Today’s Verse

Remember the word unto thy servant, Upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

Psalm 119:49

Necessity #10: The Word of God gives us hope.

Romans 15:4 says, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Sometimes I get so tired of this world and even discouraged in ministry. Then as I read through Scripture each morning, the Lord just lifts me up and restores my hope.

Necessity #11: The Word of God give us righteousness.

Psalm 17:4 says, “Concerning the works of men, By the word of thy lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.” Isn’t that an amazing verse? The Psalmist is saying that because of God’s Word he has avoided many a pitfall, many a snare set by the devil.

Necessity #12: The Word of God give us growth.

I Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere [pure] milk of the word, that you might grow thereby.” Just as a baby craves milk, we are to crave the Word. Just as milk builds the strength of a child, so the Word builds us up spiritually.

Are you drinking milk or eating meat from the Word of God?
