So God’s Word is inspired, inerrant, infallible, complete, authoritative, sufficient, effective and now one last characteristic… it is determinative. What does that mean? Like a sword it cuts a line. It divides. It makes a dividing line between those who are truly believers and those who are not.
Jesus said to the Jews in John 8:27, “They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.”
In other words, if you are genuine believer, you are going to love, long for and obey the Word of God. Your spirit will crave it like your flesh craves oxygen for the Word is your very life!
What’s more, only a genuine Christian who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit can really understand the Bible. I Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
That’s why when we come here and dig deeply in the Scriptures, the lost people just don’t get it. They zone out or go to sleep. It makes no sense to them. That’s why I can look out in a service and see people glowing with understanding, hanging on every word and others who look like they could care less. The Word itself determines who is saved or sadly, not saved.
