Not only is the Scripture complete, it is also sufficient and effective for everything we need. There is no need in life that is not addressed in the Bible. There is no relevant question that goes unanswered.
Everything we need to live this life in service to the Lord is found in the Scriptures. When I say that the Word is effective I mean it makes an impact. Again, it is “quick and powerful” (Hebrews 4:12). It accomplishes the divine purposes of God. The Lord says in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall My word be that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
God’s Word never comes back “void” or empty. It is never defeated. It always accomplishes His will.
I often fret and worry over my teaching ministry. I worry if I’ve been clear enough or if I’ve left something out. I worry over rightly dividing the Word, cutting it straight. I worry over how you receive the Word. Were you listening? Did you pay attention? Do you understand this verse? Yet, my worries are fleshly and unnecessary. Why? Because the power is not in me but in the Word itself. It will be effective… in spite of my weak efforts!
