The Word of God is inspired and it is inerrant but today we must understand that it is also infallible.
“Infallible” according to Webster means “incapable of error.” Not only is the Bible free of any errors, it is incapable of any error. It is unlikely but possible that a newspaper might be inerrant.
It might produce one specific issue without any errors. However, a newspaper could never be infallible, because it would always be capable of errors. We might say of a person, “He thought he was infallible. He thought he could do no wrong.” Yet we know no infallible human beings. The Bible is “the Word of Truth” because it contains no errors and in fact is incapable of error.
We should all take time to study through Psalm 19 and Psalm 119. These two Psalms have as their theme the preeminent perfection of God’s Word. Psalm 119:140 says, “Thy word is very pure; Therefore thy servant loveth it.”
Americans spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on bottled drinking water every year. Why? Because they want PURE water, and spring water that is untainted. All other information is tainted by sin, yet the Bible is “pure” and it refreshes our souls.
Jesus said in John 10:35, “…the Scripture cannot be broken.” The Word is God- breathed and it is pure and perfect, incapable of any error. This is a great comfort!
