Today’s Verse

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

Sunday, July 10

Have you ever seen that commercial about drunk driving? You know… the one where the life of the party grabs his car keys and three or four friends pile in with him. They never see the train coming. The final caption says, “Friends don’t let friends drive drunk.” That’s a good commercial with a positive message because it speaks of the permanent and eternal consequences of our choices.

Consider another choice of both permanent and eternal consequences that each person must make: the choice to accept or reject Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way to eternal life. Thus, we have today’s verse.

Most of us have chosen to accept Him and have been saved. However, we all have friends and family members who have not accepted Jesus Christ and they will die and go to hell unless they also accept Jesus Christ.

This is where you and I come in. If you had a friend who was falling down drunk and trying to drive himself home, what would you do? I’d guess you’d do anything in your power to stop him. You’d be concerned about his safety. Are you as concerned about his eternity?

Every saved person has both the privilege and the awesome responsibility to share Christ’s gospel with others.

Weekly Memory Verse

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

"The Christian gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. This leads to deep humility and deep confidence at the same time. It undermines both swaggering and sniveling. I cannot feel superior to anyone, and yet I have nothing to prove to anyone. I do not think more of myself or less of myself. Instead, I think of myself less."
