Today’s Verse

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, Iam with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

How do we elevate the cross? We follow The Great Commission.

Today’s verses are the succinct statement in the marching orders given to the church. Jesus tells us that because of His cross, His death, burial and resurrection, all power (authority) is given unto me. We are to therefore go. “Therefore” means “on the basis of.”

“On the basis” of the fact that Jesus won the battle at the cross and has all authority we are to go to all nations. We need a great commitment to the Great Commission! Let’s note the three elements of the Commission.

Element #1 = Evangelism

First, Jesus says we are to teach all nations. It means to “make learners.”

Jesus’ mission statement is found in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

We are never closer to the heart of God than when we are sharing the “good news.”

When was the last time YOU shared the Good News of Jesus Christ?

Weekly Memory Verse

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
