Today’s Verse

The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

Psalm 14:2

Sunday, September 25

Think with me of just a few examples of the hidden potential God saw in some of the most unlikely people.

  1.   ABRAHAM was an old man (75) in Ur of the Chaldees.
  1.   JOSEPH was a prisoner in Pharaoh’s dungeon.
  1.   MOSES was a murderer hiding in the hills of Sinai with his sheep.
  1.   GIDEON was just a young man from the wrong side of the tracks.
  1.   DAVID was just a shepherd boy.
  1.   DANIEL was just a teenage captive in a foreign land.
  1.   AMOS was a fig-picker and a farmer.
  1.   MARY was just a teenage girl from a little town.
  1.   PETER was a rough, foul-mouthed fisherman.

      10.   MATTHEW was a greedy tax collector.

      11.   SAUL, later PAUL, was a pharisaical persecutor of the church.

      12.   JOHN was a washed-up old man exiled to Patmos.

God sees hidden potential in many of you today. Be open to Him. As God used these rough people, He can use us. We must be willing to be used by Him.
