Today’s Verse

After his I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.

Revelation 7:9

Friday, September 16

Yesterday we learned that Tucson Baptist Church must present hope in our first truth.

Truth #2: Tucson Baptist Church must proclaim heaven.

Hebrews 12:23 speaks of the future gathering of all the redeemed as “the general assembly and church of the firstborn which are written in heaven.” Oh what a day when all God’s people are gathered with Him.

Today’s verse gives us a picture of the church in heaven. Are we so naive as to think that in heaven there are no Black, Hispanic or Asian saints? Of course not! Do we think that heaven will be only for people with a Baptist heritage? Of course not! Do we think that in heaven there will only be suburban, middle-class white people? Of course not! Then let us not build a church of only suburban, middle-class white people.

Truth #3: Tucson Baptist Church must possess Him.

Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, “On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.” Jesus is the builder of every true New Testament church. I am so thankful for the many cultures and ethnic backgrounds that are represented. I was preparing today’s devotional, I counted up all the countries that are represented… do you have any idea how many we have? Find out tomorrow! It will surprise you.

Weekly Memory Verse

Now therefore are we all present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

Acts 10:33

"Somebody once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said, ‘sure, every time’."
