We have been examining the ownership of the local church. We have learned that Jesus is the owner, the Savior and the Shepherd. But I believe a case can be made that Jesus is also the ruler of the church. Just notice today’s verse; He is the head of the church.
Colossians 1:18 – And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
When we allow Christ to sit on the throne in our lives, the church goes on and on and on. We must follow the steps of Christ.
I Peter 2:21 – For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Just because something wasn’t done how you thought it ought to be done doesn’t mean Christ isn’t the head of the church.
Ephesians 1:22 – And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.
I am so thankful that we can look to His Word for instruction and comfort regarding almost every situation. Take comfort in knowing that He is in charge.
