Today’s Verse

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Acts 20:29

Wednesday, December 7

As the Great Shepherd of His church, Jesus can catch the strays I can’t get to. Jesus says, those strays that got away from you; they didn’t get away from Me. The pastor is to protect the flock from wolves within and wolves without. The Apostle Paul said that when he left he was afraid that grievous wolves would enter in without sparing the flock.

Sometimes the job of the pastor is to address Mr. Grievous Wolf and say you are not going to hurt the flock. Sometimes there are big, bad wolves with what seems like bullet-proof vests. Lord, it seems like the preaching does not faze them one single bit. Lord, how can they talk about YOUR church the way they do? They are tough and mean.

The Lord says, “That’s all right!” I will ultimately take care of it.

Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? The church was saying, “Oh, NO, the big, bad wolf is coming and the undershepherd does not know what to do.” Jesus blinds Saul and says, enough is enough.

I have pastored long enough to now realize that none of us are perfect. When someone messes with our church; remember this, they are messing with the Lord Jesus Christ. He will settle the score presently or in the future, but make no mistake, He will ultimately not allow His church to be messed with! Take that to the bank!

I am so thankful He is our Savior and our Shepherd.

Weekly Memory Verse

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
