Today’s Verse

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

1 Corinthians 10:16

Saturday, December 10

Not only do we celebrate the ordinance of baptism in our church, but we also observe communion or the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Table is never called a sacrament. The Lord’s Table will never help you to get saved. It will only help you remember the Lord Jesus Christ.

I strongly believe that we should take the Lord’s Supper very seriously. We remember the cross of Christ and what took place on that dreadful day.

John 6:35 – And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Matthew 26:26 – And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

I Peter 2:24 – Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

The bread is a picture of the broken body of Jesus Christ. Remember, there are scars in the body of Christ; He revealed His scars to the disciples after His resurrection. He literally gave all for us! We can never be pompous, proud and arrogant when we partake of the Lord’s Supper. There should be a mental image of that cross that Jesus died upon for us. He was humiliated for me!

Weekly Memory Verse

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

1 Timothy 3:15
