Today’s Verse

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Acts 20:28

Thursday, December 1

Someone asks, is Jesus the proprietor meaning the legal owner of the church? The answer is absolutely yes. The price that He has paid is His very own blood. Please note today’s verse that is very specific.

He is the legal owner of the church. There is no amount of money that you and I can pay to become a stockholder of the church. “Stockholder” implies ownership and my friend, you and I own no part of the church that He purchased with His own blood.

Jesus Christ has purchased you and has purchased me, and we are called out together today because He owns us. The building is not the church; the chairs are not the church; the musical instruments are not the church; the Bible says you and I are the church, and CHRIST OWNS the CHURCH.

Matthew 16:18 says, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

I want to be a part of the one that He is building. If you have not been purchased with Christ’s blood, you are not part of His body. Can you say today, with a great sense of confidence, I am part of the body of Christ, referred to as the church?
